Additional playing times.

Because Fern Bell and Optimist gyms will be closed October 31-November 7 and Brahan Spring gym will be closed November 1-7 for floor refinishing, Berachah and Max Luther have given the pickleball club additional hours of play.

If the times listed below are not convenient , you may play at  Berachah or Max Luther whenever pickleball is scheduled.

If you usually play at Fern bell on Tuesday and Thursday, please play at Max Luther on Tuesday and Thursday from 12 p.m.-2 p.m.

If you usually play at Optimist on Monday and Wednesday, please play at Berachah on Monday and Wednesday from 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m.

If you usually play at Brahan Spring on Wednesday and Thursday, please play at Berachah on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and at Max Luther on Thursday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.  PLEASE NOTE THAT BRAHAN SPRING GYM IS OPEN  FOR PLAY ON MONDAY OCTOBER 31.

Everyone is welcome to play at Berachah on Friday, November 4, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

March Pickleball Madness

All new for March 2016.  Our default playing format for the month of March at Optimist Park and Fern Bell will be Playing Level Court Designation.  At each location one court will be designated for Intermediate and Developing Players, one court for Semi-Competitive Players, and one court for Competitive Players.  Adjustments may be made based on attendance to balance playing time.

Remember… just like Almond Joy and Mounds… some days you feel like a pro, some days you don’t, so you decide which level is best suited for you.

Please let me know how you think this is working out during the month so we can make a decision for the future.

Evenings beginning March 1st at Fern Bell.  Every Tuesday and Thursday come join us for evening play at Fern Bell from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.  At long last cabin fever ends for those who have not been able to take advantage of the winter (basketball restricted) daytime only hours.

A bonus day.  On a trial basis, beginning March 2nd, we will be playing at Fern Bell every Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:45 am.  Courts will be designated for New and Developing Players through Semi-Competitive Players.  (Note: Competitive Players are encouraged to join the group at Optimist Park.)

Reminders.  At Max Luther on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to Noon we continue to work with New and Developing Players and have two courts for Intermediate and Semi-Competitive Players.

And more.  Recreational play at all levels continues at Brahan Spring four days a week and one day a week at the Senior Center.  We also hold a New and Developing Player Clinic for those 60 and above at the Senior Center.

Outreach… The Huntsville Pickleball Club is also currently:  Providing instruction for over 30 players through adult programs at Learning Quest and OLLI.  Supporting new Pickleball start-ups in other parts of Alabama.  Assisting with Pickleball in our schools.

Optimist Park available for play.

We are back at Optimist Park starting tomorrow January 13, 2016.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 to 2:00.  More Pickleball = More Fun.

Play will be discontinued on those days at Fern Bell.  Thank you to the Fern Bell crew for hosting us during our time of need.

Extra Playing Time

While Optimist Park is closed for maintenance / repair issues, Fern Bell has opened their doors to us.

In addition to our regular times on Tuesdays and Thursdays we are now temporarily playing at Fern Bell from 10:00 am to Noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

See you on the courts tomorrow, December 30th at Fern Bell.

Temporary Closings and “Winter” Schedule.

The four City recreation centers are having their floors refinished within the next few weeks. The following are the anticipated times that each location will be closed to Pickleball.

Brahan Spring: Closes after Pickleball on Monday, October 26. We plan to re-tape the court(s) on Monday Morning, November 2, and resume play on Monday, November 2 at 11:00 am.

Fern Bell: Closes after Pickleball on Thursday Evening, October 29. We plan to re-tape the court(s) on Monday, November 9, and resume play on Tuesday, November 10 at 8:30 am.

Max Luther: Closes after Pickleball on Tuesday, November 3. We plan to re-tape the court(s) on Monday, November 9, and resume play on Tuesday, November 10 at 10:00 am.

Optimist Park: Closes after Pickleball on Wednesday, November 4. We plan to re-tape the court(s) on Friday Morning, November 13, and resume play on Friday, November 13 at 10:30 am.

“Winter” Schedule: Effective October 31st, due to basketball season, we have no Pickleball on evenings or weekends until Spring.

Sunday afternoon play at Optimist Park.

What’s better than a lot of Pickleball?

Answer: More Pickleball

Sunday afternoons at Optimist Park from 1:30 to 4:30 beginning this Sunday, September 6, 2015.

We are hoping this will last until the first part of November (when City Recreation Basketball begins). Come on out and play… this week we will try all players, all levels, all afternoon. After this Sunday if enough people think we should split the day into two levels we could give that a try. Please let me know what you think.
